The purpose of the Credentialing Department is to ensure that clinicians meet specific standards of professional qualification and that can deliver covered Behavioral Health Care Services in geographically appropriate locations. has developed and adopted standards of credentialing and recredentialing for each individual behavioral health care provider.
The credentialing and recredentialing standards meet or exceed requirements set forth by the NCQA (National Committee on Quality Assurance).
The credentialing and recredentialing program covers the following processes and procedures:

M.D.s and D.O.s must also be certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology or become Board Certified within five (5) years of joining PCSD, and have a valid DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) certification. They must also have a minimum of 50 continuing medical education credits over the most recent two-year period or meet requirements set by the state of California. Physicians are required to have three years post licensures experience.
